The Vodka History Museum has settled down in Kremlin in Izmailovo not by chance, but because Moscow became the origin of Russian vodka in XV century.

Welcome to the Vodka Museum!

Here you have a unique opportunity to get acquainted with centuries-long history of Russian vodka, from its invention to the present day. In the museum exposition you can see the first distillation unit, by means of which burning wine was produced in the XVth century. You will learn the secrets of vodka production process as well as the main ingredients of the Russian national drink.

During your visit to our museum you will hear a captivating story of the role vodka has played in the history of Russian civilization, how it could have influenced the course of important historical events in Russian history. Vodka played a vital part in realization of Tsar Peter's reforms. Yet vodka served as reason for Russia's defeats in several major battles.

The museum can justly be proud of its collection of over 600 exhibits: various brands of vodka, XVIIIth century vodka recipes, vodka posters, vodka labels and vodka bottles of different sizes, from shkalik (or kosushka) to shtof and quarter.

The staff of the Museum will satisfy the curiosity of all those interested in the personal preferences of the Russian emperors in alcoholic drinks, and will tell visitors about the origin and forming of present-day vodka traditions.
